A safe, neutral space for parent–child connection
Family Bridges Visitation & Exchange Center
Family Bridges Visitation and Exchange Center provides a structured, neutral environment where children can safely have or maintain a relationship with their parent(s). Our services are designed to reduce conflict, protect children, and support healthy interaction when court involvement, safety concerns, or high-conflict situations exist.
Family Bridges operates under the direction of Family Crisis Shelter, serving families in the Williston area and surrounding communities.
Services We Provide
Supervised Visitation
Supervised parenting time allows a non-custodial parent to spend time with their child in a safe, monitored setting.
- Visits are available in one-, two-, or three-hour increments, depending on circumstances
- Parents are encouraged to engage positively and appropriately with their children
- Staff observe visits and provide structure to ensure safety
- An observation form is completed after each visit
Direct Supervision
In some cases, staff remain in the room at all times. Direct supervision may be required when:
- A child is resistant to visits and needs additional support
- A parent has difficulty interacting appropriately
- There are safety or court-related concerns
Supervised Exchanges
Supervised exchanges provide a neutral and conflict-free way for parents to transfer custody of a child.
- Parents have separate arrival and departure times
- Parents do not come into contact with each other
- Staff coordinate scheduling to maintain safety and reduce stress for children
This service helps prevent children from being placed in the middle of adult conflict.
Phone Visitation
When in-person visitation is not practical, supervised three-way phone visitation may be available. This option allows children and parents to maintain contact while ensuring appropriate boundaries and oversight.
Safety, Structure, and Neutrality
Family Bridges follows clear procedures to ensure safety and consistency for everyone involved.
Key Expectations
- All visits and exchanges follow scheduled times
- Parents must arrive on time; late arrivals may result in cancellation
- All parties must speak respectfully and avoid inappropriate language
- Conversations should focus on the child and the present

- Staff directions must be followed at all times
Security Procedures
For the safety of children, families, and staff:
- All individuals are subject to security screening
- Bags may be searched
- Weapons, contraband, and prohibited items are not allowed
- Alcohol and/or drug testing may be required
Refusal to follow security procedures may result in suspension or termination of services.
